6 hurt in shooting rampage

SIX persons were injured after an unidentified security guard went into a shooting rampage shortly after midnight yesterday in Quezon City.

The victims were identified as Norman Paglingayen, 28; Ricky Shine Gaspan, 17; Mark Anthony Ignacio, 18; Howard Go, 15; Lovely Palmes, 18; Marie Hoyohoy, 16; and Jennica Magalona, 21, all of Barangay Tatalon. They were brought to the East Avenue Medical Center and Orthopedic Hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds.

Witnesses said the suspect is a security guard of the Mandarin Security Agency with office address on Masaraga Street, Barangay Tatalon.

Case officer PO2 Joseph Cortez said the incident happened at the corner of Masaraga and Kaliraya Streets.

Prior to the shooting spree, a group of drunk men mauled the security guard  who despite injuries managed to free himself and escape further beatings.

Minutes later the guard returned armed with a short firearm and fired indiscriminately hitting the victims.

However, a resident said, prior to the shooting, the suspect stopped at the area and forced a lady to board his car.

A bystander came to the woman’s rescue which resulted in a heated argument between the two men.

Irked, the guard sped off but returned with a gun and fired indiscriminately. Joel dela Torre
