DESPITE the refusal of the staff member of the Navotas Polytechnic College (NPC) to sue the student who held her hostage for five hours last Wednesday morning, formal charges were still filed by the Navotas City police against the hostage-taker before the fiscal’s office yesterday morning.
Pressed against Esmeraldo Yarcia III, 23, of Lot 60, Block 56, Phase 2, Sinilyasi St., Barangay 8, Caloocan City, were charges of violation of BP 6, otherwise known as illegal possession of bladed weapon and alarm scandal.
Earlier, Amy Perez, (namesake of the popular actress-host), 30, assistant at the College Administration Office of NPC, who was held by Yarcia in captivity for five hours, had already declined to file charges of illegal detention against him “for humanitarian reason.”
She insisted that there is no need to bring the case to the court because the suspect did not hurt her during the hostage-taking incident. Mia B. Billones
