‘Imperfect’ crime

IN his haste to escape after allegedly stabbing to death a female insurance agent, a house helper left a piece of evidence that directly linked him to the crime.

PO3 Rommel Mayo said they found a necklace reportedly owned by Alejandro Astrero, 20, the primary suspect in the stabbing to death of Philam Life Insurance agent Rosalia Gonzales, 52, of Pipit St.,Trinidad Village, Bgy. Talipapa, Novaliches.

Police said Gonzales died on the spot from multiple stab wounds that took place at around 1 a.m. yesterday inside the garage of her neighbor, Luisito Ayson.

Investigators surmised Gonzales was killed by Astrero, Ayson’s helper, with robbery since the bag of the victim was missing.

Mayo noted that they found a necklace with a broken chain at the crime scene.

Gonzales, police said, has been renting Ayson’s garage as parking area.

Ayson recalled he was inside his house when he heard a woman screamed. He claimed Astrero told him the noise was from a cat. Out of curiousity, Ayson went out to check and was shocked to find the victim lying on the ground in the pool of blood.

Ayson started calling for Astrero so they could help the woman but the suspect was nowhere to be found.

Later, Ayson told police that he called Astrero’s relatives in Bulacan and confirmed that the suspect came by but quickly left after packing his belongings.   Melnie Ragasa-Jimena
