BAUAN, Batangas -- A couple, who left their house to go shopping in a grocery, were robbed by unidentified culprits on Friday, police reported yesterday.
Town police head Chief Insp. Alfie Salang identified the victims as couple Florante Bisa Atienza, 69, retired bank employee; and Diosdada Matira Atienza, 68, sari-sari store owners, both of 38 Villa Florentina Subd., Manghinao Proper, this town.
At about 8:30 p.m. Friday, a daughter of the victims, identified as Marianita Atienza Exala, reported the incident to Bauan Municipal Police Station.
Salang dispatched investigators PO3 Louie Ericson C. Brual and PO1 Ronner Herman C. Alza-te to the victims’ house.
The investigators disclosed that at 11 a.m. that day, the victims left their house and went to Batangas City to shop.
When they went back home at 6:30 p.m., they discovered that the front door was open.
They discovered that their assorted jewelry worth P528,000, an iPod, a Smart Bro pocket Wifi; Sony Ericsson, Nokia, O Plus cellphones and two pairs of Nike and Asics shoes were missing.
The suspects also took away an 48-inch flat screen TV, a Seiko and Bulova wristwatches, cash in different denominations amounting to P18,000, Allied and PNB ATM cards, a duplicate key of their Toyota Innova and different kinds of perfumes.
The amount of the valuables and cash lost totalled P655,600.
Further investigation revealed that the robbers destroyed the sliding window next to the front door of the house then destroyed the inner screen window and then reached for the door lock.
Police said the suspects possibly used the front door as entry and exit points.
