Parañaque police insist they’ve got goods on Ram Revilla slay suspects

THE Parañaque police yesterday maintained they have enough witnesses to prove their case against the suspects in the killing of Ramgen “Ram” Jose Bautista citing the fact that the prosecutor’s office ruled that the suspects be held in their custody and not released for further investigation.

“We have solid testimonies from several witnesses. If we don’t’ have them, the prosecutor’s office would not have found probable cause to file the charges against the suspects and would probably have ordered that they be released for further investigation,” a top police official told the Journal Group on condition of anonymity.

The official said that concerned officials have talked to Sen. Ramon ‘Bong’ Revilla Jr. before his half-brother Ramon Joseph “RJ” Bautista and half-sister Ramona were included in the complaint sheet.

“We understand the sentiments of the Revilla family. Let the court decide on the matter,” the official said.

For his part, Parañaque police chief Senior Supt. Billy Beltran said they would wait for the issuance of warrants of arrest against four other suspects in the killing of the victim known by his movie screen name Ram Revilla before going after them.

Beltran also welcomed any counter-charges that will be filed by the Bautista family against them in the aftermath of their investigation that linked RJ, 18, and his sister Ma. Ramona, 22, to the killing of  the 23-year-old Ramgen.

Beltran said they have been very careful with their investigation since it involved a kin of Senator Revilla. Ramgen, RJ and Ma. Ramona are three of the nine children of former Sen. Ramon Revilla Sr. with former movie actress Jenny Lyn whose real name is Jenelyn Magsaysay.

Beltran said they have at least four witnesses who have corroborated each other’s testimony. One of them is Roel Puzon who confessed that he was part of the murder plot hatched by RJ but did not participate in the actual killing.

The official also denied reports (not from the Journal Group) attributed to Parañaque police investigators that disagreement over the P1 million monthly allowance from their father appears to be the motive behind the murder of Ramgen.

Ramgen’s mother came to the defense of her two children as she denied that the two were involved in the murder of their brother.

"May mga differences kami sa bahay namin, oo meron, pero hindi kayang gawin ng mga anak ko na patayin ang sarili nilang kapatid," she told GMA television while adding that she raised her children as God-fearing people.

"Hindi ko sila pinalaki para magpatayan, hindi ko sila pinalaki para maging bastos sila. Church kid si Ram Revilla, church kid ang mga anak ko," she said.
