Four opposition solons finally get partial Priority Dev’t Assistance Fund
BUDGET Secretary Florencio “Butch” Abad has released the pork barrel of four opposition lawmakers, finally making funds available for vital development projects.
Abad denied that he has been withholding the Priority Development Assistance Fund of opposition lawmakers saying all requests are being processed according to the accepted menu or allowed projects.
“There is no withholding of pork barrel funds because we are committed to serve the people nationwide,” said Abad.
He said the DBM has initially released P15 million PDAF for Leyte Rep. Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, P14.6 million for House Deputy Minority Leader and Quezon Rep. Danilo Suarez, P5.4 million for Bohol Rep. Arthur Yap and P7.4-million for Occidental Mindoro Rep. Ma. Amelita Villarosa.
The release was part of the first tranche of lawmakers’ pork barrel worth P35 million each.
The initial release came amid reports that the DBM is preparing to give the second tranche of pork barrel in the amount of P35 million to each member of the House of Representatives.
More fortunate than his Minority colleagues, House Minority Leader and Albay Rep. Edcel Lagman received in full his P35 million for the first tranche from April 14 to June 29, 2011.
But the DBM has yet to release the first tranche of PDAF for House Deputy Minority Leader and Zambales Rep. Ma. Milagros Magsaysay, Ang Galing Pinoy party-list Rep. Juan Miguel “Mikey” Arroyo, Camarines Sur Rep. Diosdado “Dato” Arroyo, Negros Occidental Rep. Ignacio “Iggy” Arroyo and Iloilo Rep. Augusto “Buboy” Syjuco.
