58th mining confab set


ALL is set for the 58th Annual National Mine Safety and Environment Conference (ANMSEC) on November 8-11, 2011 in Baguio City, according to Philippine Mine Safety and Environment Association (PMSEA) President Louie Sarmiento.

“Significant activities have been lined up for the guests and participants to this year’s grandest four-day event of the country’s minerals industry to ensure a meaningful gathering experience,” Sarmiento said.

Sarmiento added that the PMSEA has also timely scheduled the main event of the conference, the testimonial dinner and annual awards night, on November 11, 2011 to further highlight the yearly mining and environmental tradition.

President Benigno S. Aquino III is expected to grace the occasion together with Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary Ramon Paje, foreign ambassadors, church and religious leaders, the academe, non-government organizations and other government officials including Baguio Mayor Mauricio Domogan.

Sarmiento bared that the 58th ANMSEC with theme, Responsible Mining: Enabling A Better Future, would officially begin its first day with a tree planting ceremony at 2 p.m. by the PMSEA and the city government of Baguio inside the summer capital’s Botanical Garden as a form of “giving back” the fruits of Mother Nature which has been providing us with bountiful blessings.
