2 armed drug leaders killed in Masbate shootout, 4 held

A GUNBATTLE between agents of the 5th Regional Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit and the Masbate Police Provincial Office and a group of armed robbers in Mandaon, Masbate last Friday left two members of the gang dead and four others captured, a report to PNP-CIDG chief, Director Roel B. Obusan said yesterday.

5th RCIDU chief, Senior Superintendent Marlon Tejada said that suspects Leonardo and Norberto del Rosario were killed in a firefight with combined operatives of the Masbate CIDG and the local police in Villa Alvarez, Barangay San Pablo in Mandaon municipality past 4 p.m. last Friday.

Leonardo del Rosario was identified as the leader of the ‘Sako Criminal Group’ said to be involved in robbery-holdup activities in Bicol region, said Tejada. Also arrested during the operation were four other suspected members of the gang identified as Arvie del Rosario, Roger Paglinawan, Junie Almado and Romeo del Rosario.

Tejada said that the suspects are the subject of the ‘Coplan Panday’ of the Masbate CIDG aimed at accounting for a group of wanted criminals in the province.
