Farmer slain in Batangas

TALISAY, Batangas -- A 40-year-old farmer died after being shot repeatedly by an unidentified suspect in Bgy. Quiling, here, on Saturday.

The victim, Federico Talibsao Alitagtag, alias Jun, 40, married, a native of Sta. Rosa, Laguna and presently residing in Bgy. Quiling, Talisay, Batangas, sustained several gunshot wounds in the body.
The suspect quickly fled, said town police head Senior Insp. Jojit S. Mananquil.
PO3 Larry P. Jumarang and PO1 Ariel P. Laurel said their investigation showed that the victim and his wife, Loreta Dimapilis Alitagtag, were walking along an alley in Bgy. Quiling from a grocery store at 8:20 p.m. when an unidentified man emerged from the concrete fence of Quiling Elementary School and shot the victim several times.
The victim was rushed to St. Andrew Hospital in Bgy. Tumaway, Talisay, where he was declared dead on arrival by attending physician Dr. Mark Anthony Mendoza.
The Batangas Provincial Crime Laboratory Office recovered five empty shell casings and two  slugs for cal. .45 at the scene.
The body of the victim lies at his residence.
