What next?

Vindictiveness, political persecution, non-specific multiple organ failure, nerve disorder, bone disease.

She has them all.

And yet she was able to muster the strength to try to catch the last flight for the day in any of six she booked on the same day the Supreme Court said she could leave the country.

But since the Aquino administration refused to let her go on a legal and procedural grounds, she was promptly whisked back to the hospital.

And then her lawyers said she deserved house arrest where she could recuperate and be ostensibly close to her constituents in the Pampanga district she represents in Congress.

Which indicates she was not that sick or bed-ridden after all.

Now, that the Pasay City Regional Trial Court has ordered her confined to the Veterans Memorial Hospital under “hospital arrest,” her spokesmen are saying that that there is an assassination attempt on the former president.

What would they think of next? Aliens are out to abduct her?

President Aquino himself dared the Arroyo camp to show proof of the “Put the Little Girl to Sleep” plot against Pampanga Rep. Gloria Arroyo.

“We will not comment on work of fiction. Maybe to everyone listening here, motivation is important. What will be our possible motive to do something like that?” the President remarked.

Two senators  both identified with the Aquino administration also  warned that  Rep. Arroyo might fake her death next time or create an “ambush me” scenario to generate sympathy from the public.

“First, they faked the ballots of 2004 and 2007 elections. Next, they faked the seriousness of her state of health only to be burned by the testimonies other doctors. Now, they are faking death threats on her by an incredibly ludicrous oplan complete with a funny code name,” Sen. Panfilo Lacson was quoted by a major beoadsheet as saying.

“ I hope they will not resort to faking her death next time,” Lacson said, reacting to the alleged “Oplan: Put the little girl to sleep.”

Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero expressed hopes that Arroyo camp would not resort to “ambush me” scenario next time.

“If indeed there are threats, they should name names and specify their source and file the necessary cases against those who are supposedly behind it. It is very irresponsible to just say that there is a plot based on nothing,” the broadsheet also quoted Escudero as saying.

“Further, I hope they [Arroyo camp] are not trying to build up an “ambush me” scenario,” the senator added.

In the lower House, two party-list lawmakers belittled the alleged  plot on her life as yet another attempt to win public sympathy.

Bayan Muna Rep. Teddy Casino said: “There is no doubt the plot is part of a script” to generate support for Arroyo, who is facing charges of electoral sabotage, a non-bailable offense.

Describing the alleged plot as a “desperate move” by Arroyo’s camp, Casino said: “They failed to convince the public she’s suffering from life-threatening bone disease, now they’re saying her life is under threat,” he said.

ACT party-list Rep. Antonio Tinio also said the Arroyos were merely pushing their agenda of “house arrest” for the former president.

Like Lacson, Tinio noted that Arroyo has a history of lying and manipulating the results of the election to keep herself in power.
