MALACAÑANG is not cowed by the threat of the Catholic Bishop Conference of the Philippines to withdraw its support to the Aquino administration because of the President’s support to the controversial Reproductive Health bill.
The Palace is also open to any Senate probe on the use of the P423 million health fund.
Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said the Palace welcomes any investigation by the Senate. Sen. Vicente Sotto earlier questioned the use of the money for family planning.
If the Senate will conduct a probe into the issue, Valte said Malacanang will not prevent Cabinet officials from testifying before the Upper Chamber.
Valte said the Department of Health can address the matter.
She said the Palace does not feel threatened even if the CBCP will stop supporting the Aquino administration.
“Ginawa lang natin ang trabaho natin,” she said.
The CBCP earlier said it will stop negotiating with the government after President Benigno Aquino threw his support to the RH bill.
