Ampatuan kin files plea for bail

A RELATIVE of the Ampatuan clan has asked a Quezon City court to allow him to post bail for his provisional liberty, claiming there is no evidence implicating him to the Maguindanao massacre.

In a petition for bail filed before QC Regional Trial Court Branch 221 Judge Jocelyn Solis-Reyes, accused Misuari Ampatuan stressed that he is entitled to bail since the evidence of guilt against him is weak.

Ampatuan further stressed that there is no direct evidence linking him to the grisly slaying of 57 persons, including 32 journalists, during the Nov. 23, 2009 massacre.

A petition for bail would allow the accused to present evidence to prove that the evidence of guilt against him is weak.
