BRT rules First Aid Olympics


MALOLOS City — The Bulacan Rescue Team (formerly Bulacan 566 Emergency Reponse Team) bagged the championship in the 8th Regional First Aid and Basic Life Support Olympics held at Remy Field, Subic Freeport Zone, Olongapo City recently.

Gov. Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado said the competition, organized by the Office of Civil Defense and the Philippine National Red Cross, was aimed at enhancing the readiness and competence of disaster and emergency response units in Central Luzon.

Alvarado said the BRT, the emergency response team of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, was adjudged as best in “situation analysis,” “focus on control bleeding” and “bandaging and treatment of wounds.”

He lauded Provincial Administrator Jim Valerio and PDRRMC executive officer Felicisima Mungcal for continuously training the province’s disaster and emergency response and rescue units.

The Malolos City Rescue Team emerged as the over-all champion in the city category while the San Jose del Monte rescue Team was 2nd runner up.

The Calumpit 1024 Rescue team dominated the municipal category and was adjudged the best in “situation analysis” and in “transfer relay.”
