AT least three lawmakers yesterday expressed strong support to the government’s plan to give a two-hectare farm land in the provinces to each family of informal settlers in Metro Manila provided full agricultural support will be given to them.
Citizens Battle Against Corruption Rep. Sherwin Tugna, San Juan City Rep. Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito and Quezon City Rep. Winston “Winnie” Castelo said the proposal of President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III will surely not only decongest Metro Manila but also give decent living to many poor families.
“The CIBAC party-list fully supports the proposal. It is a reasonable condition given by the President and a genius way of declogging Manila and promoting livelihood and development in the countryside,” said Tugna.
President Aquino said qualified occupants will be given housee but should plant crops and take care of the property under a lease agreement or it will be taken back by the government.
Ejercito said the important thing in the proposal is that people who live in extreme poverty will now have the opportunity to have access to better life. Ryan Ponce Pacpaco
