MALACAÑANG yesterday twitted Liberal Party  standard-bearer Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III in connection with his call for a “new kind of people power’ envisioned to propel his victory in the May 10 elections.

Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita doubted that the people power  call would not trigger another people power revolt, pointing out on  Aquino’s “political motive” to enhance his chances for the presidency.

Ermita also noted that the situation then before the EDSA People Power ushered the ascendancy to power of the late President Cory Aquino  24 years ago in 1986 was different from what  the young Aquino would want to happen.

“I don’t think kakagatin ito ng mga tao,” Ermita said, adding that it would not be easy to gather people to enhance one’s political bid.

He indicated that the “Cory Magic” would no longer be as effective as it was in February,1986  in the coming 2010 polls.

Ermita also indicated that Aquino’s promise to redistribute vast lands in 2014 of the 6,431  Hacienda Luisita to farmer beneficiaries could yet prove to be another broken promise.

The Palace official advised the farmers to take Aquino’s pledge “with a grain of salt”.

“Good luck”, Ermita told Aquino, as he expressed hopes that the objective would be attained as promised.

A best selling book, “Greed and Betrayal,”  tagged as an anti-Aquino book,  authored by journalist  Cecilio T. Arillo claimed that “the Cojuangcos, taking undue advantage of the awesome powers of the presidency made sure that the hacienda was not subdivided among the farm tenants through a midnight decree, Executive Order No. 229 issued by the late President herself  which allowed absolute control of the hacienda to the prejudice of farmers.”

Party list solon Rafael Mariano of Anak Pawis said Aquino’s pronouncement is a “recycled promise” during the Aquino regime.
