Sen. Noynoy Aquino’s two most important female supporters did not show up for the opening salvo of the Liberal Party campaign in Concepcion, Tarlac yesterday. Korina Sanchez, wife of Aquino’s runningmate Sen. Mar Roxas, was present. Aquino’s girlfriend Valenzuela councilor Shalani Soledad and famous sister Kris Aquino were not in sight. His town mates were obviously expecting the two ladies, especially Kris. Supporters attending a mass suddenly broke into a frenzy when they thought Kris had arrived. The mass was stopped as all heads, including the priest’s, turned to the front door. However, the passenger of the newly arrived Toyota van turned out to be teenage actor Coco Martin, Kris’ co-star in the new teleserye “Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo.” Aquino said Kris was too busy with other things to attend his opening salvo. “Kahit wala si Kris dito ay tumutulong naman siya sa ibang bagay, lalo na sa mga ideas ng info ads,” he said. He said Soledad was also busy campaigning for him in Valenzuela where she is seeking re-election for a council seat. Coco brought color to the rally. He wowed the crowd and urged teeners to vote for Aquino. |
