THE agricultural sector and the modernization of the Armed Forces of the Philippines will be some of the priorities of Lakas-Kampi-CMD presidential bet Gilbert Teodoro if he wins in May.

Teodoro told the debate sponsored by the Philippine Daily Inquirer that he will abide by the consensus on controversial policies such as the Reproductive Health bill.

Asked by UP College of Law Dean Raul Pangalangan about his stand on the controversial RH bill, the former Defense chief said it is difficult to impose a policy that is being opposed by many people.

“For any policy, especially one as controversial as this, you have to work with the consensus, you can’t implement a law with such massive opposition,” Teodoro said., noting that the measure is not the answer to the problem of population.

“We must move ahead, lean forward and respect moral choice,” he added.

He stressed the need to allocate more budget for modernizing military equipment since the P5 billion budget for modernization is not enough.

He also vowed to give priority to agriculture.

“The most important thing is still the agricultural sector, we should not forget our farmers,” he said.
