A 41-year-old man and his sister were arrested by barangay tanods for snatching the bag of a woman in Angono, Rizal.

Supt. Ruel Vacaro, the town chief of police, in his report to Senior Supt. Manuel Cesar Prieto, Rizal police director, said the suspects were identified as Peter Ciano and his sister Carol, 37, both of Feliciano St., Bgy. Calumpang, Binangonan, Rizal.

According to Ruby Malinao, 38, of Diaz Apartment, Bgy. Kalayaan, she was walking along Tolentino St., Bgy. San Isidro, at about 9:30 a.m. on her way to school to fetch her six-year-old daughter when a black SYM motorcycle (PM-2169) slightly sideswiped her after which the backrider grabbed her shoulder bag containing P2,750, cellphones and other personal belongings and sped away.

The victim immediately sought the assistance of patrolling tanods who chased the suspects.

“Wala na kaming pag-asang abutan ang mga suspek, malas na lang nila nang masira ang kanilang motor kaya agad namin silang nadakip,” the tanods said.

When bodily searched at the police headquarters, the suspects yielded the items they stole from Malinao. They were detained at the Angono police headquarters facing charges of robbery snatching.          Al Rivera
