BALAGTAS, Bulacan -- Police killed a suspected robber in an encounter Thursday night at a gasoline station in Bgy. Borol 2nd here.
Bulacan police director Senior Supt. Fernando H. Mendez Jr. said investigators are still verifying the identity of the slain suspect.
In a report, Chief Insp. Alfonso Cruz, Balagtas police chief, said he earlier received an information that criminals are planning to rob the Fuellab Gasoline Station owned by Alexander Bernardo.
Cruz dispatched a team which positioned near the target gasoline station. At 8:30 p.m., the suspect arrived on a motorcycle (8640 NJ).
As the gasoline station was about to close, a gasoline boy tried to stop the suspect who drove towards the cashier’s booth and announced the heist, aiming a gun at the cashier identified as Pretty Madonna Bagayas.
At this juncture, the operatives emerged and ordered the suspect to surrender but instead fired at the policemen who were forced to retaliate, killing the suspect.
Recovered at the scene were a caliber .38 revolver loaded with three rounds of live ammunition and a spent shell.
