PATNANUNGAN, Quezon -- A farmer, who was arrested by the police Wednesday for killing his elder sister and also admitted killing his pregnant wife and his three-year-old son, allegedly took his life by jumping into the sea.

Quezon police director Senior Supt. Ericson Velasquez said the suspect, Nolasco Gabriel, told police that he killed his pregnant wife Melanie and son Mark Norman on the morning of October 5.

Velasquez said Gabriel went into hiding after killing his sister Lolita Caillo, 65, on the morning of October 7 for still unknown reasons.

Gabriel also admitted to Insp. Wilmor Abang, the town police chief, that he killed his wife.

On Sunday, the suspect also confessed that he also chopped off his wife and son and buried them, saying he has been bothered by his conscience, Velasquez said.

The suspect allegedly got mad with his seven-month pregnant wife after she threatened to abandon him.

“Nagbanta daw iyong misis niya (suspect) na iiwanan siya kaya siya nagalit. Pinagtataga daw niya ito pati na ang kanilang anak at pinag-puputol ang mga katawan at pagkatapos ay ibinaon sa lupa,” said Abang.

Two days later, the suspect went to his sister's house and allegedly had a heated argument with him, prompting him to stab her to death, Abang said, adding the suspect quickly escaped.

the suspect told probers the exact place where he buried his wife and son.

To verify the suspect's confession, Abang, along with some of his men, proceeded to the place, a forested area where they found the shallow pit with the decomposing chopped remains of the victims.

Abang said they filed murder and double murder charges against the suspect.

He said they were aboard a passenger ferry with the suspect somewhere in Polilio Island yesterday afternoon on their way to Infanta town for inquest when the suspect asked permission to urinate at around 1 p.m. While being escorted by policemen to the comfort room, the handcuffed suspect sprinted and jumped off the boat.

“Bigla po siyang tumakbo at tumalon sa dagat at hindi na napigilan ng pulis ko. Malamang ay patay na siya dahil hindi siya makakalangoy at napakalaki ng alon dahil masama ang panahon,” said Abang.

He said he ordered the boat captain to maneuver and wait for couple of minutes but the suspect did not surface.
