FORMER senator and environmental advocate Juan Miguel “Migz” F. Zubiri hailed the inclusion of the Puerto Princesa Underground River in the final list of the New 7 Wonders of Nature.
“I feel a great sense of pride and very much excited on this recent victory, not only for Puerto Princesa but for the whole country and Filipinos all over the world,” Zubiri said.
He further suggested the place can be called as Philippines Pride Underground River (PPUR).
The former senator will be in Palawan this week to discuss with local officials some projects of the Katala Foundation, a wildlife conservation foundation based in Palawan, which he heads.
“Once again, environmentalists and eco-tourism proponents are vindicated by this recognition, as you could derive economic benefits from eco-tourism as well as a source of national pride as proven in the case of the PPUR,” he adds.
