DOTTIE Ardina, fresh from her swashbuckling 10-shot victory in the Thailand Am Open, headlines the ladies cast vying for top honors in the Samsung Amateur Open which gets going Oct. 21 at the Summit Point Golf and Country Club in Lipa, Batangas.
Ardina, who also boasts of the Queen Sirikit Cup individual title and three more victories abroad, hopes to dish out the same form she showed in dominating the field in Bangkok although she expects a tougher challenge from her teammates in the ICTSI golf squad in the upcoming tournament presented by Samsung Phils.

There is Chihiro Ikeda, who is out to redeem herself from a couple of mediocre performances, including in the Thailand Am where she lost by 10 to her buddy in a joint runner-up finish with Thai Asama McKenzie.

Jayvie Agojo, also coming off a double victory in the recent Hong Kong Amateur Open, along with Sarah Ababa, Sunshine Baraquiel, Daniella Uy, Sheryl Villacencio and Lovelynn Guioguio are also competing in the event           which also serves as part of the national women’s team’s buildup for next month’s SEA Games.

Club bet Desiree Salvador is also tipped to contend for the crown in the 36-hole tournament sponsored by Airphil Express, Mizuno, Custom Clubmakers, Footjoy and Titliest by Empire Golf, Loro, Endress+Hauser, Sweet Photolicious, Torch Resto Bar, GlucosCare, Omnisource International, Business Mirror and Inquirer Golf.

Aristeo Mata, who finished joint runners-up to Charles Hong in last year’s edition of the event presented by Samsung Phils. at Eastridge, will be back in the hunt for the men’s crown along with members of the national pool and the leading jungolfers plus the top finishers in the recent Samsung national club and pro-am championships.
