MAMANG PULIS -- GIVEN the delicate mission of guarding Camp Crame and ensuring that all its rules and regulations, including proper energy use, are enforced to the hilt, the Philippine National Police Headquarters Support Service marks its 18th anniversary today by honoring officers and men who have contributed to its successful mission.

PNP chief Director General Nicanor A. Bartolome and Metro Manila Development Authority Chairman Atty. Francis N. Tolentino will lead the presentation of medals and awards to officers and men of the PNP-HSS headed by Chief Supt. James Andres B. Melad of Philippine Military Academy Class 1982.

The awardees are Senior Supt. Joselito M. Daniel, PNP-HSS Best Senior Police Commissioned Officer for Administration; Supt. Cesar T. Magsino, Best Senior Police Commissioned Officer for Operations; Chief Inspector Santos D. Mera, Best Junior Police Commissioned Officer; Senior Police Officer 4 Zaldy R. Ocde, Best Senior Police Non-Commissioned Officer; Police Officer 1 Carmelino F. Pepito Jr., Best Junior Police Non-Commissioned Officer; and Non-Uniformed Personnel Leilani R. David, Best NUP (Non-Supervisory Level).

Special awardees are the Public Safety Savings Loan Association Inc. (PSSLAI) represented by retired Director Ernesto Belen; the Public Safety Mutual Benefit Fund Inc. (PSMBFI) headed by retired Director Victor Boco; the PNP Service Store System and the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.

Headed by Melad, the PNP-HSS is tasked to implement the policies, rules and regulations governing the daily activities inside Camp Crame all geared towards maintaining order and security within its premises in order to provide an environment conducive to the efficient and effective pursuance of the PNP mission and functions.

Acting as administrators and managers of Camp Crame, which is the home of the premier law enforcement agency in the country, is huge responsibility pinned on the shoulders of Melad and his staff as well as the different PNP units stationed inside the sprawling camp.

Melad said the camp’s safety and security can only be effectively maintained with the full cooperation of all police units holding office inside the PNP national headquarters.
