THREE movie stars-turned lawmakers were among the richest legislators in the present 15th Congress where only seven out of 284 members are not part of the so-called millionaires’ club.
Leyte Rep. Lucy Marie Torres-Gomez, wife of actor Richard Gomez, placed 15th in the list of richest lawmakers with P148,356 million net worth following her P131.479 million real properties and P35.796 million personal/other properties for a P167.275 million total assets with P18.918 million liabilities.
This was based on the Statement of Assets and Liabilities and net worth (SALN) of lawmakers submitted by Atty. Ricardo Bering, director of the Records Management Service, and noted by Jose Ma. Antonio B. Tuano, executive director, Administrative Management Bureau.
Sources said it was prematurely leaked Thursday by the Office of Secretary General Marilyn Yap despite the appeal on the afternoon of the same day by Speaker Feliciano “Sonny” Belmonte Jr. during his press conference that he would first inform the members of the House of Representatives before giving it officially to the media.
