POLICE launched a massive hunt for five prisoners who bolted the Trece Martires City jail in Cavite early Tuesday morning, Calabarzon police director Chief Supt. Gil Meneses said yesterday.

Meneses has ordered a thorough investigation into the negligence of the duty officers and men when the five made their daring escape which was discovered only when duty desk officer/jailer, SPO1 Henry de la Cruz, made a routine inspection of the jail facility.

Still hunted as of press time were Jobert Cabrera, brothers Alberto and Benito Velas, Benjamin Torres and Joseph Constancion. Except for Constancion, the prisoners are from Trece Martires City. Constancion, of Daang Amaya Dos, Tanza, is facing a rape case.

Cabrera has been jailed for a rape case while the Velas brothers were detained for homicide. Torres is the subject of a maltreatment and physical injuries cases.

Meneses has ordered the Cavite police to account for the escapees as soon as possible.
