MMDA warns bribers PDF Print E-mail

THE Metropolitan Manila Development Authority yesterday warned motorists not to bribe traffic enforcers, or face jail term.

MMDA Chairman Oscar Inocentes ordered the prosecution of over 150 drivers who offered money to traffic enforcers to avoid paying fines.

He directed the MMDA-Legal Service to pursue the charges in court to deter motorists from corrupting MMDA traffic personnel.

“Offering bribes to our traffic enforcers is a serious criminal act and is penalized under the Revised Penal Code. Your P10 or P20 bribe will cause you even more serious trouble and inconvenience than dutifully settling your traffic fines,” Inocentes said.     Alvin Murcia
