TWO sick men decided to end their sufferings by taking their lives in Quezon City Monday. Police identified the suicides as Wenceslao Saldana, 51, of Barangay Tatalon, and Joel Cunanan, 42, of Valenzuela City. Homicide unit head Chief Insp. Benjamin Elenzano said Saldana was found dead by his wife, Erlinda, 52, inside the toilet of their house. Saldana looped a nylon cord around his neck and tied the other end around the concrete beam. Erlinda said her husband was miserable because of an illness he has been suffering for quite some time. Meanwhile, Cunanan jumped from a footbridge at the corner of EDSA and Bansalangin Street in Barangay Veteran’s Village, Project 6. Police said Cunanan slammed into the windshield of a bus of Sampaguita Lines which ran over him. Cunanan’s family said he was suffering from occasional attacks of mental illness. |
