CHARGES of robbery with intimidation, graft and violation of the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials were filed against three members of the Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group accused of mulcting P50,000 from TV and radio host Arnel Ignacio.
Charged before the San Juan City Prosecutor’s Office were Police Officers 3 Jose Levy Llagas and Neil S. Pono and PO1 Joel L. Lasala.
HPG director Chief Supt. Leonardo A. Espina said, a hotel telemarketer, Ma. Dolores “Lulu” Paraoan, is also being considered for prosecution amid suspicions she was in cahoots with the three policemen.
The complaint sheet signed by Senior Supt. Ricky N. Nerbes said the three officers demanded the amount from Ignacio after telling him they would not impound his 1997 Porsche (RCG-996) over alleged unpaid Customs taxes.
Ignacio met the HPG chief yesterday to press charges against the three.
Espina said that once the resolution is finished by an HPG fact-finding body headed by his deputy, Senior Supt. Danilo Alcoriza, the policemen will undergo summary dismissal proceedings.
