THE Metropolitan Manila Development Authority will impound pedicabs caught using major roads in the metropolis.

MMDA Chairman Oscar Inocentes issued the order as part of the implementation of a Metro Manila Council ordinance banning pedicabs and tricycles from major thoroughfares.

Inocentes directed the Traffic Operations Center to form a teams that will go after pedicab and tricycle drivers operating outside their franchise routes. “We will impound their vehicles for 30 days. They know they are banned from major thoroughfares,” he said.

The MMDA chief said he personally saw tricycles traversing EDSA, Commonwealth Avenue and Katipunan Avenue.
