MANILA Mayor Alfredo Lim yesterday offered residents with an alternative source of enjoyment by watching the live performances of students at the Baywalk area on Roxas Boulevard. Lim said students from public schools perform folk dances and native songs every Saturday, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. He said the weekly show is aimed at instilling love of culture and arts among the youth. “It is also our way of giving importance and recognition to the talents of students,” Lim said. The mayor said the program kicked off last week with the performances of students from the Lakandula High School and the Bonifacio Elementary School. The city’s 32 public high schools and 71 elementary schools participated in the program. |
