OPPOSITION lawmakers yesterday slammed House Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr. anew for allegedly not fulfilling his promise to work for the release of the first tranche of their pork barrel.
Zambales Rep. Mitos Magsaysay and Quezon Rep. Danilo Suarez said that until now the pork barrel of some opposition lawmakers were not yet released while the second wave of the pork barrel of the majority solons were almost complete.
It can be recalled that Belmonte said before the session went on a month-long break to work religiously on the release of the pork barrel of the solons.
However, the PDAF of at least five opposition solons remain unreleased while four other solons only got portions of their pork.
Aside from Magsaysay, Negros Occidental Rep. Ignacio Arroyo, Camarines Sur Rep. Diosdado Arroyo, Ang Galing Pinoy party-list Rep. Juan Miguel Arroyo and Iloilo Rep. Augusto Syjuco have not received the first half of their pork amounting to P35 million.
Meanwhile, Suarez, Leyte Rep. Ferdinand Romualdez, Bohol Rep. Arthur Yap and Mindoro Occidental Rep. Amelita Villarosa have only received portions of their pork.
The lawmakers asked Belmonte to make true of his promise of working for the release of the first tranche of their pork barrel funds.
“I feel very sad because up to now while they are talking about the second tranche, the first tranche has not been released and as a father of the House of Representatives, I am hoping that the Speaker will look to all his other children, meaning the people in the minority,” Magsaysay said.
For his part, Suarez said Belmonte must ensure that entitlements of all lawmakers are given to deliver the basic services and sustain economic activities in the countryside.
