“LEAVE Pacman alone”

Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao was defended by his colleagues in the House of Representatives as they said that the world boxing champ deserves his victory against Mexican boxer Juan Manuel Marquez.

San Juan Rep. JV Ejercito said that Pacquiao should not be blamed over the judges’ controversial decision.

“They are the experts in that sport. It’s their own call, and they are the best people to make that call. This fight may be different from the previous ones, which he won by overwhelming decisions. But it is still not Manny’s fault that he won. He also has ‘off fights.’ We cannot expect him to be always out there and knockout opponents every time,” Ejercito said.

Ejercito also said that Pacquiao deserves to be honored for again bringing pride and honor to the country.

Ang Kasangga party-list Rep. Teodorico Haresco said the people should respect the decision as Pacquiao deserves to win since he showed might, wit and speed during the fight.

“The judges have unanimously declared him a winner. Crab mentality has reared its ugly head. Every body who was not in the ring had a lot to say,” Haresco said.

In addition, Zambales Rep. Mitos Magsaysay said that detractors should stop criticizing Pacquiao for his performance in his recent fight, saying that the Filipino has the numbers to back up his victory and that the public should just back off and cut him some slack.

“Give him a break. His performance in the ring in his last match may not have been as explosive as his earlier victories but Manny must have a game plan set for the match which they did not want to make public. If he was being cautious, he was playing smart because he respects his opponent’s skills. He said so himself in countless interviews. He knew that Marquez is a great counterpuncher,” she said.

Magsaysay said that Filipinos should continue to support Manny because he continues to inspire people to go after their dreams and work hard for it. She said that this uncommon performance by Pacquiao should not dampen the public’s views of the boxing champ because Manny has already proven his mettle in the sport.

The victory of Pacquiao raised more questions as the camp of Marquez and many audience claimed that the former doesn’t deserve to win because the later showed more aggressiveness.

Marquez said that he was very disappointed over the result of the game.
