Swedish dies of heart attack

A SWEDISH national, who traveled to Quezon province together with his Filipina wife and friends for vacation, died of heart attack the other day.

Supt. Ramon Balauag, chief of police, identified the victim as Dan Olof Jansson, 51, a native of Ingaro, Stockholm, Sweden and billeted at Bgy. Bangkatan in Oriental Mindoro.

Investigation showed that prior to the incident, the victim and his companions -- wife Theresa Turano Jansson, 33, and friends PO3 Aileen Palma and May Lilia -- were engaged in a conversation in front of Diamond Hotel in Bgy. Ibabang Dupay, Lucena City.

The couple was about to enter the hotel lobby when the victim suddenly complained of a chest pain around 5 in the afternoon.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital but doctors declared him dead on arrival.

It was learned that the group just had an outing earlier that day at Mainit Hot Spring in Tayabas City as part of the couple’s vacation.
