Confronting dynamic change at work

THE world is rapidly changing –   technology, globalization, innovation, industry revolution, etc. went faster than we could  imagine. Just as many strategists asked, “are we prepared for this?”

The evolution of technology was meant to facilitate people’s lives. Communication  is   quicker these days with information technology. Almost everything comes in an instant.

Young and bright minds will gather once again to discuss positive approaches   to prepare Filipinos and the entire workforce in these challenging times. The People Management Association of the Philippines takes cognizance of these challenging times as it embarks on its 48th Conference on October 12-14 at Atrium Limkethai Center in Cagayan de Oro to discuss and explore the new environment, its impact and implications on people and how to manage it.

According to Arthur Luis Florentin, 2011 Vice President of PMAP, how to use the open space technology will be the core of their 48th conference with the theme “Tao Muna, Tayo Muna: The HR Mandate in the New World.”

He said open space technology is useful in leading any organization from day to day against the backdrop of dynamic change. Plenary sessions will focus on the Four Forces of Change that will provide the global context that makes “people first” an imperative particularly in light of the changing business and social environment, like emerging Asian markets, developments in technology, societal values vs. business mindsets, and environment, climate change and change and disaster recovery. Resource speakers will share valuable insights on how the marketplace has changed and is continuing to change and what best ways industry players could adopt to cope.

“Are we ready to respond to these situations including the impact of climate change? How does management respond to these shifts in working environment with the way they manage people? We are targeting the entrepreneurs especially the SMEs so they can easily evolve in their business relationship,” Florentin said.

“They will not just sit and listen. They will learn and relate from the discussions on the implications on managing business, people and their behavior; and acquire and apply tools and effective practices in people management and development”.

There will also be Awards Night, Fellowship Night and Expo where delegates will have the chance to meet new friends and seasoned HR practitioners and people managers.

Among the topics to be expounded are “Playing With The Tigers: Responding to the Emerging Asian Markets”and “Earth Hour: Protecting People from Earth’s Wrath”, by Presidential Assistant for Climate Change Elisea Gozun.
