Epileptic cook jumps to death

A 28-year-old cook allegedly suffering from epilepsy died after he jumped from the 14th floor of a condominium tower yesterday morning in España, Sampaloc, Manila.

John Kerwin Lipurada, of Unit 1404 Espana Tower located at the corner of Espana and Josefina Streets in Sampaloc, Manila, reportedly jumped to his death at around 4:50 a.m. The victim landed in front of the tower.
PO3 Roderick Magpale of the Manila Police District-homicide section said security guards Jolito Plitero, 43 and Eric Salazar, 46, were on duty when they heard a thud. Upon checking, they saw the victim lying face down on the ground bloodied.
Police said the victim jumped from the 14th floor balcony where the Calalang Law Office is located. The victim first hit a  power cables before he fell to the ground.
Information gathered by the police said that Norman Ricaforte, a paralegal officer of the law office, arrived at around 3:30 a.m. and had some drinks with Atty. Ciriaco Calalang.
Moments later, Ricaforte said he heard Calalang shouting and trying to stop the victim from jumping, when the latter went atop an airconditioning unit installed outside the balcony.  The victim did not heed Calalang and jumped.
An investigation is underway to determine if there is  foul play in the victim’s death.
