Cop slain by RIT gunmen

CABANATUAN City -- A rookie policeman was peppered with bullets by two unidentified riding-in-tandem assassins here last Monday night.

Police said the slain victim, PO1 Jayson Damian, married, of 397 Bgy. Bakod-Bayan, this city, died on the spot from multiple gunshot wounds in the body.
   
City police commander Supt. Ponciano P. Zafra said the rookie cop was driving his motorcycle when he was attacked at 11:30 p.m. along Circumferential Road in Purok 8, Bgy. San Juan Accfa.
   
Two men riding an unidentified motorcycle tailed and repeatedly shot him before fleeing.
   
Recovered at the crime scene were 14 fired cartridge cases for cal. .45 pistol, a fired bullet, a cal. 45 pistol loaded with eight bullets, 13 plastic sachets containing alleged shabu and P1,000 cash.
   
Police are still investigating the murder incident.
