Eggplant grower shot dead

BALETE, Batangas -- A 46-year-old farmer was shot dead by an unidentified suspect while sitting on his motorcycle in Bgy. Magapi, here, on Tuesday.

Chief Insp. Gerry Malipol, town police chief, identified the victim as Efren Motas Villapando, alias Balantik, married, of Bgy. Bilucao, this town.
The incident was reported to the Balete Police Station through telephone by Councilor Arlan Garcia at 6:15 a.m. on Sept. 27.
Detective PO2 Christopher Escabel said that at 5:50 a.m., the victim was sitting on his Kawasaki Barako tricycle without plate number in front of his eggplant plantation when suddenly, the unidentified suspect armed with unknown caliber of firearm arrived and shot him in the head and body, causing his instantaneous death. The suspect quickly fled.
Malipol said the victim was included in the drug watchlist as a pusher in the municipality.
Scene of the Crime Operatives technicians processed the scene.
The body of the victim now lies at Reycon Funeral Homes in Malvar, Batangas for autopsy.
