A barangay councilman and a male nurse were arrested in separate buy-bust operations for possession of shabu worth P73,000 and several party drugs, respectively, the other day in Pasay and Taguig cities.
Police said Barangay Kagawad Jordan Garland, of Bgy. 43, Zone 6, Pasay City, was arrested at 7:45 p.m. Saturday on Tramo St., following a buy-bust operation conducted by operatives of District Anti-Illegal Drugs Unit of the Southern Police District.
The report showed that police immediately pounced on the suspect after taking the marked P3,000 as payment for shabu. When frisked, Garland yielded more shabu worth P70,000.
Police said Garland, though classified as a street pusher, is being considered as “high-value target” since he is a barangay official.
Garland, for his part, denied the accusation, saying he was playing basketball when police came and brought him to the barangay hall in Palanan, Makati City, where he was informed that he is being arrested due to illegal drug activities.
He said he already surrendered last July when he learned that his name was included in the drug watchlist to clear his name.
In Taguig, police arrested one Kenneth Santillan, a registered nurse, Saturday night in front of a condominium unit in Bonifacio Global City following a drug bust.
Police said Santillan, tagged as a supplier of party drugs, yielded several pieces of the illlegal drugs known as Hello Kitty, 10 pieces of Valium, 11 sachets of shabu and liquid shabu
