Pusher killed in Batangas

BAUAN, Batangas -- A 38-year-old jobless man was shot dead by an unidentified suspect while driving his motorcycle on Don Quintin Castillo St., Bgy. Poblacion 1, here, the other day.

Insp. Alex Reyes Mercado, Bauan Police Station deputy chief of police, identified the victim as Regie Tortosa Suanqui, alias Jake, married, a native of Bacolod City and presently residing in Bgy. Poblacion 2, this town.

Mercado said that at 9:05 a.m., a Traffic Management Group (TMG) personnel informed police that a shooting incident transpired in Bgy. Poblacion 1. A police team dispatched to the area saw the victim in a pool of his own blood slumped on the ground.

The victim was rushed by policemen to Bauan General Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival by an attending physician, Dr. Allan C. Bato.

Investigators PO2 Denver R. Claveria and PO1 Rufino D. Panghulan said that at 9 a.m., the victim on board a Honda Wave motorcycle (1632DI) was traversing along Don Quintin Castillo St., Bgy. Poblacion 1 when the unidentified suspect wearing a black jacket with hood and armed with a short firearm shot the victim in different parts of the  body and hastily fled on foot.

A Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) team and local policemen recovered a slug and an empty shell for cal. .45 at the scene.
The victim was pinpointed by some detainees of the station as a drug pusher, Mercado said. His body now lies at Bautista funeral morgue for autopsy.
