Woman shot dead in Batangas

BATANGAS City -- A 60-year-old unemployed woman was killed by unidentified motorcycle-riding gunmen while waiting for a jeepney ride in Bgy. Pallocan West, here.

Batangas City police chief Supt. Barnard Danie Dasugo identified the victim as Julie Armamento-Villanueva, married, of Bgy. Sampaga, this city.
   
Investigators, led by Insp. Ferdinand Granadel Laureta, were dispatched to the area after desk officer PO2 Aries Macalindong received the report from a city traffic enforcer about the incident at 12 noon Monday.
   
Investigation showed that at 11:50 a.m. Monday, the victim and her sister Rita Dayo Armamento were talking to each other while waiting for a jeepney when unidentified suspects on board a black Mio motorcycle without license plate arrived. The back rider, who was wearing black jacket and face mask, quickly alighted and shot the victim at close range.
   
The gunman quickly boarded their motorcycle and sped away towards Batangas City proper, leaving the victim bloodied on the pavement..
   
The victim, who sustained a gunshot wound in the left temple, was rushed to Batangas Medical Center where she was pronounced dead on arrival by attending physician Dr. John Alistair Rayos.
   
A team from the Batangas Provincial Crime Laboratory Office found a fired cartridge casing and a slug for cal. .45 at the scene.
   
On verification, police found out that the victim is number 14 in their drug watchlist.
