AN elderly woman died after she was hit by a speeding taxi while crossing EDSA yesterday morning in Caloocan City.
Caloocan police traffic investigator SPO2 Fernan Romero said the unidentified woman in her early 60s, of medium built, short hair and wearing red pants and polka dots polo shirt, was rushed by a responding Caloocan Rescue Team to Caloocan City Medical Center where she succumbed to massive head and body injuries.
The victim was crossing EDSA near Gen. Malvar U-turn slot at 4 a.m. when she was hit by a speeding taxi (ATA-8551) driven by Bemboy Perquino, 26, of Evangelista St., Nomar Subd., Novaliches, Quezon City. She was thrown up and hit by the windshield before she landed on her head on the road.
A case of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide will be filed by police against Perquino before the Caloocan City Prosecutor’s Office while the victim’s body was brought to Saint Valentine Funeral Parlor for autopsy.
