(First of Two Parts)
OBESITY, slow metabolism and various kinds of ailments are related to wrong and imbalanced diet. As popularized by naturopathic physician Dr. Peter D’Adamo, a diet that is compatible with the blood type can help avoid health problems and thus one will have a better and fruitful life.
According to D’Adamo, a person’s wellness and health is based on the food he eats and this is based on the blood type’s compatibility to the food.
Many found D’Adamo’s blood type diet to be effective especially on shedding fat, boosting energy and preventing illness. However, some doctors still doubt as there is still no solid scientific evidence to prove that individuals who eat foods not compatible with their blood type may experience health problems like slow metabolism, allergies, asthma, cancer, heart disease and chronic fatigue.
Nevertheless, one can change one’s diet pattern according to blood type.
* Type A. People with Type A blood will bloom on vegetarian diet since they are prone to heart disease, cancer, and diabetes. Eating fresh or organic fruits and vegetables will supercharge their immune system and eliminate the risk of developing deadly diseases. Dairy products like yogurt, non-fat sour cream and cultured milk are okay.
However, they are sensitive to lectins in potatoes, yams, cabbage, tomatoes and peppers. Because of the delicate stomach, people in this blood group should also avoid mangoes, papaya and oranges
They should avoid beer, distilled liquor, carbonated water and black tea. Coffee and ginger are limited to one cup a day.
* Type B. Like in Type A group, people with Type B blood are also sensitive to lectins in foods. They have the tendency to increase the cortisol levels when stressed and susceptible to lingering viruses and autoimmune diseases. A type B must adhere carefully to the diet.
Type Bs valuable foods are cottage, farmer, feta and goat cheese, kiefer, mozzarella, ricotta, yogurt and milk. Not all oils are good. Only olive oil is friendly to their digestive tract. They should stock up on leafy green veggies that contain magnesium and help fight off viruses and autoimmune diseases like bananas, cranberries, grapes, papayas and plums.
The favorite of many is chicken. However, chicken is no-no to Type Bs. Chicken contains a Blood Type B agglutinating lectin in its muscle tissue, which attacks the bloodstream and potentially leads to strokes and immune disorders. Shellfish also have lectins. Tomatoes may irritate the stomach lining.
If they will carefully follow the recommended diet, Type Bs can bypass severe disease and live a long and healthy life. Remember, people in this group type are more prone to immune-system disorders such as multiple sclerosis, lupus, and chronic fatigue syndrome.
