FOLLOWING the controversial death of Albuera Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr., his son Kerwin Espinosa should be tightly secured not by the police but by the military.
This was the proposal of Surigao del Norte Rep. Robert Ace Barbers, chairman of the House Committee on Dangerous Drugs, as he intends to file a resolution calling for an investigation of the death of Rolando inside his cell.
In an interview, Barbers said it is better if the Armed Forces of Philippines (AFP) will secure Kerwin once he is brought back to the country from Abu Dhabi.
“The AFP should be involved in securing Kerwin. I think the next target is Kerwin, so I suggest he must be detained at Camp Aguinaldo,” Barbers said.
According to the solon, it appears that there are so many suspects in the case of Rolando, including those narco politicians and narco police on the list of the two drug lords.
While the Philippine National Police (PNP) vowed to secure Kerwin, Barbers said, the AFP should be given the task to guard him because of the vital information he is holding.
Based on initial information, Kerwin has a longer list of those involved in the drug trade.
“Mas maraming na-implicate si Kerwin, dapat lang siya mabigyan ng mas mahigpit na proteksiyn or we will have a missed opportunity,” Barbers added.
