ANGELES CITY -- Three suspected drug pushers were killed in two separate buy-bust operations in this city yesterday.
Senior Supt. Sidney Villaflor, city police director, said the suspects identified as Ruston Bartolo, 23, Reynaldo Castaneda, legal age, and June Baltazar, 30, died after engaging police operatives in gunfights.
Around 1:40 a.m. Police Station 4 operatives headed by Chief Inspector Samuel Quibite positioned themselves in Mt. View Subdivision, Barangay Balibago where a poseur-buyer tried to buy P500 worth of shabu from Bartolo and Castaneda who were on board a motorcycle.
The suspects sensed that the buyer was a policeman. One of them drew a handgun and fired at the policeman but missed and they sped off. They were chased and cornered by the police but allegedly pointed their guns at the lawmen, prompting the latter to fire at the suspects.
Confiscated from the suspects were two loaded .38 caliber revolvers and 10 pieces of plastic sachets of suspected shabu.
At around 3:30 a.m. operatives of the Angeles City Police Intelligence Branch headed by Supt. Nolie Asuncion conducted a buy-bust operation in Barangay Malabanias. A poseur-buyer was buying shabu from Baltazar and his companion who were on board a motorcycle but they sensed that it was a sting operation.
One suspect drew a gun and fired at the poseur-buyer but missed. The latter fired back and killed Baltazar. His cohort was able to escape.
Confiscated from the suspect was a .38 caliber loaded with four ammunitions and one fired cartridge and a plastic sachet of suspected shabu.
Police Regional Office 3 director Chief Supt. Aaron Aquino lauded the city police for neutralizing the suspected drug pushers.
