TUNA and isdang dapa including Pampano fish contain selenium, a mineral that raises your levels of a cancer-fighting enzyme called thioredoxin reductase. On the other hand, broccoli provides sulforaphane, a plant chemical that also boosts thioredoxin reductase.
British researchers studied the combination of these two and they found that both are more effective at slowing the growth of cancer cells than eating them individually. They believe that as selenium concentrations in the cells rise, the ability of sulforaphane to elevate thioredoxin reductase increases.
So the next time you prepare a meal for lunch or dinner, combine fish with broccoli. In addition to fish, beef, nuts, and mushrooms are excellent sources of selenium. And cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, brussels sprouts, cabbage are loaded with sulforaphane.
