“DEREK Ramsay is not the type of a man I'd like to marry,” Nadine Samonte said in our interview at the thanksgiving party recently for the tremendous success of Derek-Nadine starrer, “Kidlat” of TV5.

Although, she said, that Derek is an ideal man to tie the knot with for other women, ‘Kidlat’ is simply as good as a close friend for her.  

Nadine is firm with her decision to get married to a man she perceives as a ‘truthful person.’

She failed to categorize though her ideal ‘truthful person’ man.  She merely explained that she prefers a non-showbiz guy. She claimed that she had an unpleasant experience once with an actor suitor and she promised herself it would never happen again.

“Suitor ko pa nga lang, na-offend na ako, papaano pa kung asawa ko na?” she told us. 

When we insisted to expound about her ‘unpleasant’ experience with the actor suitor, she explained, “Nag-date kami noon sa isang mall, natural may mga taong nagtitinginan sa amin.  Ang hindi ko nagustuhan ‘yung feeling n’ya and expression n’ya sa mga tao na artista s’ya. Di ba noon ko pa sinasabi sa press na ayoko sa boyfriend na taga-showbiz, pero nang may nanligaw sa aking taga-showbiz sabi ko why not give him a chance?  Mabait naman sya at dumadalaw pa nga sa bahay namin sa Laguna… and approved naman sa kanya ang mother ko.  Kaya nga lang dahil sa mall incident na ‘yun parang nagising ako. Ay, ayoko nga pala sa taga-showbiz.  So, binasted ko siya.”      

Nadine added that her actor suitor did not stop courting her. “Palagi ko naman siyang binabasted, so nagsawa rin at huminto na.”

She simply gave us a clue when we insisted to know the name of the actor. “He is a Kapamilya (ABS-CBN talent),” she said. 

When asked, aside from being a ‘truthful person’ what else does her suitor must have in order for her to vow “I do” with him by the altar, she emphasized, “Kailangan hindi siya artista. Kailangan mabuti siyang tao. Hindi ako tumitingin sa panlabas na kaanyuan. Kung guwapo ba siya o hindi masyadong guwapo… basta maganda ang kalooban, guwapung-guwapo na rin siya para sa akin.” 

About Derek, Nadine stated that ‘Kidlat’ is not so ‘guwapo’     but he possesses the charm from the inside that drives women crazy about him. She stressed that Derek is the kind of a man capable of making a girlfriend feel contented. “Derek is a husband material,” she mused. “He’s very responsible.  But masyado na ako sigurong ‘usi’ ngayon… usisera na ako ngayon… gusto ko lahat ng bagay ay okey.  Ayoko nang pumasok sa isang relasyon na pagkatapos ay iba naman.”

Nadine said that she’s ready to get married.  “I’m 24 years old now at gusto ko na talagang magkapamilya.  Pero, ang gusto ko nga ay hindi taga-showbiz.”  

But what about that lips-to-lips episode at Iloilo Dinagyang festival that apparently, according to ‘tsismis’, has started Nadine and Derek’s ‘sweet relationship’?

“Hiling lang ng mga fans namin ‘yun, no malice.  Hesitant pa nga kami ni Derek na mag-lips-to-lips at iniiba namin ang usapan, pero nagsisigawan na ang mga fans, so ginawa na namin. Kinilig naman ang mga tao, ganun lang.  Hindi talaga puwedeng maging kami,” justified Nadine.
