Caloocan marks cityhood

CALOOCAN City Mayor Oscar “Oca” Malapitan announced activities lined up for the month-long celebration of the 55th Cityhood Anniversary of Caloocan this month.

Malapitan said departments, bureaus and offices of Caloocan City Hall have prepared various activities for the month-long festivity which will start on Wednesday, February 8.
    
A two-day medical mission will be held and organized by Caloocan City Medical Center (CCMC) on Wednesday at the main hospital of CCMC and on February 9 at CCMC-North that will start at 7 a.m. up to 5 p.m.
   
On Friday, February 10, Caloocan City Hall departments and offices and the official candidates of Miss Caloocan 2017 will have a motorcade parade in District 1 while on February 11, a motorcade will be in Zones 15 and 16 in North Caloocan, and on February 12 in District 2 .
    
The inauguration and turnover of Bagong Barrio Police Station will also be held on February 10 to be led by Mayor Malapitan.
    
Various cultural activities will take place at Entablado Festival on February 12 at Glorietta Park Amphitheater while hundreds of couples are expected to tie the knot at the Kasalang Bayan on February 14 at Camarin Elementary School.
    
A Thanksgiving Mass will be held simultaneously at San Roque Cathedral and Caloocan City Hall-North on February 15. Celebrities, breakout artists and the Parokya ni Edgar will grace the Cityhood Concert at Monumento on February 16.
    
A multi-brand Motorcycle Drag Race will be conducted at Arangkada sa Fiesta along 10th Avenue on February 19. On the same day, a Tibourine Race will be organized along C3 Road.
    
The Labor and Industrial Relations Office will have a Mega Job Fair at Caloocan City Hall-South on February 21 and at Caloocan City Hall-North on March 7.
 
Outstanding Citizens Awards or OCA Night will honor top taxpayers, centenarians, outstanding artists, employees, and various fields of endeavors on February 24.
    
The celebration will be closed by the grand coronation night of Miss Caloocan 2017 at Glorietta Amphitheater on February 25. Mayor Malapitan invites all the residents to the many events.
