SAN Luis, Batangas -- A Small Town Lottery employee was shot dead by unidentified motorcycle-riding suspects while ordering food inside a restaurant in Bgy. Poblacion, here, Thursday afternoon.
Police identified the slain STL employee as Gerardo “Jerry” Mendez Alcantara, 46, a native of Granja, Lipa City, and a resident of Bgy. Poblacion, this town.
Reports said that at about 12:35 p.m. on January 26, police investigators PO1s Romyr Macatangay Mirano, Nedzfar Biste Andag and Exequiel Ilagan Ilao were standing by in Bgy. Poblacion when they heard two gunshots echoing from the direction of Jhifame Eatery.
Upon arrival at the crime scene, police found the bloodied body of the victim lying on the ground.
Police pursued the suspects who were able to make good their escape.
Investigators disclosed that the victim was inside Jhifame Eatery and ordering food when the two unidentified men on board a black motorcycle arrived. One of them approached the victim and shot him in the head and face, causing his instantaneous death.
A Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) team recovered two fired cartridges casings for cal. .45 at the crime scene.
