BACOLOR, Pampanga – Former 2nd district Rep. Juan Miguel “Mikey” Arroyo and two others on Monday were hurt while a policeman died in a road accident in this province.
Arroyo, eldest son of former president and now Pampanga 2nd district Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, was rushed to the Mother Teresa Calcutta Hospital in San Fernando City for treatment. He was later transferred to St. Luke’s Hospital in Quezon City.
Also brought to the Mother Teresa Calcutta Hospital were Arroyo’s driver John Frederick Macaraeg, 51, a resident of Fairview, Quezon City and Edward Mendoza.
PO2 Alexander Villamin, a resident of Bgy. Eugenio, San Jose, Nueva Ecija assigned at the Police Regional Office 3 Public Safety Battalion in Camp Olivas, Pampanga died in the mishap, according to Pampanga Police acting director Sr. Supt. Joel Consulta.
Arroyo, Mendoza and Macaraeg were in a Toyota Hilux pick-up with conduction sticker VH-7847 traveling from Bacolor to Porac town when struck by a Honda Civic car with plate number WFP-604 driven by Villamin on Megadike road, Bgy. Sta. Barbara, Bacolor town at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
Villamin died on the spot while Arroyo and his two companions were brought to hospital in an ambulance.
An investigation showed Villamin’s car encroached on the lane being occupied by the former solon’s Sports Utility Vehicle causing the smash-up.
