La Union mayor backs drive vs drugs, criminality

BAUANG, La Union -- The local government here, under the leadership of Mayor Eulogio Clarence Martin P. de Guzman III, and the Municipal Peace and Order Council, are extending allout support to the PNP’s “Project Double Barrel” and other anti-criminality campaigns.

The LGU has so far awarded a total of P2 million to drug-cleared barangays (P100,000 each) intended for livelihood programs for the drug surrenderers.
    
De Guzman led the awarding ceremonies held during the GABAY (Gobyernong Abot Ang Barangay) program.
 
LGU Bauang, likewise donated to the Bauang PNP a 660-square-meter lot for the construction of a new Bauang Police Station. It earmarked P1.5 million for the demolition of the existing structure  thereat and site development.
    
This is supported by Municipal Resolution 581-2016 passed by the Sangguniang Bayan on November 22, 2016. The resolution authorizes Mayor De Guzman to donate both the ABC Building and the lot (situated at the back of the municipal hall building) for the construction of the new Bauang Police Station, as well as the provision of P1.5 million counterpart fund of the municipality.
